Abstract Painting Process & Inspiration

I just posted my first full painting process video on YouTube! I did speed up the process a bit, but it would’ve been a couple hours long if I hadn’t. Instead, it’s under 20 minutes. In the video, you’ll see the entire painting, start to finish. Let me know if you have any questions about my process or if you’d like to see more videos like this! Below, you’ll find some inspiration that I pulled together that influenced this piece. Most of my paints are purchased locally in larger sizes, but I’ve added most (if not all) products I used in my Amazon Shop. If you can’t get to a local art shop (Kristen Ashley Artist Shop and The Loft are Athens faves), please give my Amazon shop a browse and treat yourself to some new art supplies!

I love the playful sophistication of this page from the most recent Vogue magazine! It’s undeniably feminine and so soft! The pop poms and the airbrush painting are trimmings I just couldn’t toss out from projects past. The contrast of pink and green in the portrait are just the right balance in tone and reminded me to add a hint of darkness to my painting to give it more depth. The documents binder is a Target find that I’m completely in love with. I’ve had it for a couple of years now and have poured so many ideas into its pages. It’s tucked into this vision board of sorts to help bring a sense of focus while maintaining softness.
